FORMER champion Neil Machin is hoping to become the second man to win Fish'O'Mania twice.
Machin, the 2006 winner, qualified for the 2010 event when he triumphed in the latest qualifying event staged on Saturday at the The
Oaks
Fishing
Lakes in
Thirsk, Yorkshire.
He is the only previous winner to have qualified for this year's event so far, although three qualifying competitions are still to be held.
Fish'O'Mania XVII will take place at the Cudmore Fisheries in Staffordshire on Saturday, July 17 with all the action once again screened live on Sky Sports.
This will be the fourth time Machin has appeared in the Fish'O'Mania final, the most prestigious event in match fishing, after he also came runner-up in 2004 and fifth in 2008.
Rob Wootton was a runner-up last year but will be hoping to go one better in 2010, while Ray Haward came fifth in 2003, Neil McKinnon was fifth in 2007 and Kieron Rich has made the final twice before with his best performance a sixth place in 2006.
Among those who will be making their Fish'O'Mania debuts will be Tim Bull, who is the brother of 2008 champion Mick.
There is an added incentive this year as the winner will be back at the Cudmore Lakes on Sunday, July 18 to take part in the first ever Fish'O'Mania Champion of Champions, which will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
This will feature all of the previous winners, including Matt Hall, the only man to have won the event twice.
